The Retreater

Early Autumn Tuscan Retreat

About The Retreat

A 6 night retreat set in Italy, with classes ranging from Vinyasa and Katonah to Yin, Fascia Flossing and Yoga Nidra. Organic meals and good company ☀️ Join Meredith and Katherine for early autumn in the Italian countryside. We'll spend 6 nights at Ebbio, a 12th-century restored farmhouse nestled on a 7-hectare organic farm between Siena and Florence. Expect a variety of daily yoga (2x classes per day), robust vegetarian Tuscan cuisine with produce sourced from Ebbio’s organic farm, time to relax, adventure and explore the nature of the region-- even learn a thing or two about the art of Tuscan cooking. This retreat is designed to embrace the transformative nature of the season and offer a blending of practice, play, community and deep rest. Meredith [Boston] and Katherine [London] both trained with The Sacred Fig, and first connected at a retreat in Colorado run by a close mutual friend of theirs. Since then, a seeded idea has grown and bloomed into this retreat. Meredith has forged a sturdy path in Boston’s yoga community alongside her work as a ceramic artist, while Katherine teaches alongside being an actor in London. Arrival/Departure Days Check-in is at 4pm on the 5th. We will have a post-travel class at 5:30pm before our first dinner together. On the 11th, we'll have a morning practice, breakfast, and check-out at 10:30am.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people will be attending?

This will be an intimate retreat capped at 14 guests + Meredith and Katherine

Can I still attend if I am new to yoga?

Of course! We welcome all levels of experience, whether beginner or seasoned practitioner.

What should I bring? Do I need to bring a yoga mat?

Comfortable clothes for yoga, hiking, perhaps biking or any other exploring you'd like to do. Bring a swimsuit, and casual clothes for lounging, picnic, walks to nearby villages, meals. Maybe a nice outfit for our evening out, and something cozy for chiller mornings and evenings. Check the weather beforehand, but the region is known to be 60-80F this time of year (ideal!). It won't be as hot as summer, but you'll still want sunscreen and sunglasses. Bring a good book, perhaps a journal, and everything you need for practice will be provided in Ebbio's fully equipped shala (Manduka mats, blocks, straps, blankets, bolsters). If you would prefer to bring your own mat, you are more than welcome.

What about bathrooms?

There are 5 shared bathrooms in the house

What if I have food allergies/intolerances?

Please let us know upon booking of any dietary requirements or other allergies. We will do our very best to accommodate, though please note that we cannot make guarantees. See terms and conditions.

How do I get to the retreat? Should I rent a car?

It is your responsibility to make your own travel arrangements to and from the retreat including flights and airport transfers. We suggest flying into Florence, and if you'd like to take public transit, see below. With your permission we can connect you with other guests joining your retreat, to see if you can arrange shared flights and/or travel options. Renting a car for the week is recommended if you want to have more freedom to explore the region, however it is not required to visit nearby Monteriggioni and enjoy all that is available at/around the property. From Florence: About 1hr drive or Tram + Train Tram from airport to SMN train station, and train from Florence SMN to “Castellina in Chianti - Monteriggioni” about 1 hour 45mins, one change of train in Empoli. Ticket is 12€ per person. Transport from the train station to Ebbio 15€ per person (about 10 mins drive). OR Taxis are available to/from Florence +39 055 4390 - 150/160€, you can ask for larger cars

Should I get travel insurance?

If you are traveling from the USA, we highly recommend that you obtain comprehensive travel insurance (this is different from airline cancellation insurance). Taking part in any of the activities that will take place during the retreat, including yoga, tours, and sporting activities, carries a high risk. When you participate in the retreat or in any of the activities that take place during the retreat, you agree that you do so at your own risk. We are not responsible, and do not have any liability for any risk, damage, injuries, illnesses or death that occurs during or as a consequence of your participation in the retreat, whether by reason of negligence or otherwise. You must insure yourself against any such risk, damage, injury, illness or death. We advise all attendees to purchase travel and medical insurance on booking to cover any unfortunate events while traveling and on retreat. Your insurance is NOT included in the retreat price.

What is the cancellation policy?

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds of any kind for deposits, and balance payments vary depending on the timing. If you cancel with more than 45 days notice, you will receive a refund of your balance minus the deposit paid. Should you need to cancel within 45 days of the retreat date, we cannot offer any kind of refund. Exceptions cannot be made for any reason, including weather, injury/illness, or personal emergencies. We do not offer refunds or credit for a guest who fails to attend, arrives late, or leaves early. We appreciate your understanding and strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers the cost of your place on the retreat should an unforeseeable event occur.
